SIX WAYS TO ACCESSORIZE WITH RIBBONS

If you are looking for ways to add an air of delicacy to your outfit, ribbons are your answer. These satin accessories are to an outfit as what maraschino cherries are to an ice cream sundae; the sweetly essential finishing touch. Adorning oneself with ribbons has recently become a popular fashion trend, but unlike many big trends, it is done with elegance and timelessness. Furthermore, this is a trend that allows for originality because there are so many ways one can embellish themselves with ribbons. What is even better is the inclusivity of this trend, as ribbons are rather inexpensive and accessible to everyone. With that being said, here are some ribbon DIYs that add a touch of luxury to each outfit.
1. Bows on the straps of shirts
Simply tie a bow on each strap of a tank top. This is an extremely simple yet cute way to elevate your outfit.
2. Bows on headphones
If you have a pair of headphones, tie a bow over each of the ear covers. This is a unique way to personalize your headphones, and an accessory that often gets overlooked.
3. Beltloop bows
Tie bows on the side belt loops of your pants, shorts or skirt. You can also tie one on the back belt loop for a cute little pop of color in the back. I like to make my side ribbons shorter and my back ribbons longer, but there is no specific way to do it! Try to play around with different lengths, colors and knots when accessorizing with ribbons.
4. Waist-snatchers
Do you have a dress that doesn’t fit you quite like you want it to? Maybe you feel that it is too plain and would like to add something to elevate the dress? To fix this, just gather two safety pins and a long strand of ribbon. Pin the safety pins on both side seams of the dress, making sure to pin them from the inside of the dress so that the large part of the safety pin is not visible from the outside of the dress. Next, string your ribbon through each of the needles sticking out from the dress and tie it in a bow. This will tighten the dress in the waist area, snatching you up while adding a lovely satin bow to the dress.
5. Shoelaces
This hack is the definition of creating the perfect outfit through the small details. Swap your shoelaces out with ribbons for a fashion-elevated outfit and a practically new pair of shoes!
6. Necklaces
There are many ways to style ribbons around your neck, so you could go a million ways with this last hack. You could simply tie the ribbon around your neck, tying a bow on the side or at the back of it. You can also string a charm you like around the ribbon, using the ribbon as a chain. My favorite way to go with this DIY is to tie a little bow on the side of a pearl necklace, this is such a simple way to dress your pearls up and achieve an elegant flair for your outfit.
