If there is a song that has been stuck in your head for the past couple of weeks, there is a likely chance that it is from Sabrina Carpenter’s new album “Short n’ Sweet,” released on Aug. 23, 2024. Carpenter’s highly anticipated album is the perfect humorous and unique take on a coming-of-age.

Carpenter, a child actor turned pop star, has grown quite the fan base this past summer. After touring with Taylor Swift on The Era’s Tour in early 2024, Carpenter was more widely recognized for her catchy pop hits and impressive stage presence. Shortly after touring with Swift, she released “Espresso” and“Please, Please, Please” in anticipation for her upcoming album.

The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and immediately became an instant hit. Carpenter perfectly captures the relatable emotions that occur in relationships and heartbreak in an authentic, sexy, and fun way.

Carpenter said on Instagram: “I thought if something was funny enough to make me laugh then maybe it belonged in a song. happy or sad.”

Bed Chem,” was an immediate fan favorite, which blew up on TikTok. The song makes several sexual suggestions and references, creating a fun twist when you dive deep into the lyrics.

Carpenter has done an excellent job not only creating music based on her experiences but also creating music that is widely accepted and understood by anyone listening. Her relatability is part of her charm and is what makes “Short n’ Sweet” work.

A personal favorite from the album is “Sharpest Tool.” This track accurately captures dating in today's society and how dating isn’t what it used to be.

Carpenter is by far the “it girl” of our generation. The album resonates with themes of self-discovery, love, and resilience, making it a compelling listen for both long-time fans and new listeners.
